Description

In less than four years, we will be celebrating the 100th anniversary of the 1927 New York Yankees triumphant season. Get a head start on the festivities, with this 1927 American League Champs medal with ribbon pin. Considered by many to be the greatest team of all-time, the '27 Yankees are famed for their prolific "Murderer's Row" lineup. This killer pin is fashioned in bronze, and is etched with the maker's hallmark on the back at bottom, "Bradshaw, Newark, N.J.".

Sized with a 1-1/4" diameter, this antique medal is adorned with a high relief batter, who is modeled after Lou Gehrig in his stance at the plate. On the right is an olive branch, also in raised relief, and on the left is the engraved legend "American League 1927 Champs". This scalloped edge medallion dangles from a red, white and blue ribbon, fitted with a pinback brass fastener. While the ribbon shows moderate soiling, it remains intact with minimal fraying, and the bronze device sports well defined details, with just slight wear noted, the worst of which is a single scratch on the field, about 1/8" in front of the batter's face.
