Topps Mantle Rookie! One of the few sports cards which transcends hobby circles and enters into the public conversation. Graded Poor 1 by PSA. This landmark 1952 Topps Baseball #311 Mickey Mantle rookie high number is the undisputable king of the post-war hobby and a significant acquisition in any condition! The phenom glances over his right shoulder on this gum card which was obviously well handled by a young admirer. Despite a combination of creasing and surface staining, the overall presentation of this museum quality piece remains eye-catching and display worthy. The reverse which touts Mantle as "Joe DiMaggio's successor" displays a hint of reverse paper pulling/loss and further staining due to storing methods. Additionally, the "laces face right" version exhibits bold red-white-and-black text. A striking example with flip provenance from the Bill Wilen Collection.
