The process of getting a photograph of a baseball player for his trading card is rarely a one and done effort. A good professional photographer will take several shots and submit them for the editorial selection process. Consider the also ran images with this vintage group of (25) different baseball player 4x5 contact proof photos by famed photographer Bill Jacobellis. Judging by the poses and scenes, surely these were alternate images captured by Jacobellis during trading card photo shoots in the 1950s.
The exacting developing process required to produce a contact proof results in high resolution of the subject images and these quality originals do not disappoint in delivering the goods. Corner wear ranges from minimal to moderate throughout this collection and as is typical with photos of such advanced age slight curling is evident, however this sparkling group remains highly appealing with a grade range of (VG-EX to NM).
All photos are stamped on the reverse with a "William N. Jacobellis" photo credit. The list of included players and the uniforms they are seen in is as follows: Cal Abrams-Dodgers, Joe Adcock-Reds, Gus Bell-Reds, Hal Brown-Red Sox, Rocky Bridges-Reds, Jim Busby-Senators, Harry Byrd-A's (cropping impressions on front), Chico Carrasquel-Indians, Jackie Collum-Cardinals, Moe Drabowski-Cubs, Walt Dropo-Tigers, Monk Dubiel-Cubs, Luke Easter-Indians, Billy Goodwin-Red Sox, Hal Gregg-Giants (minor surface loss at top left corner), Jack Harshman-Giants, Bobo Holloman-Browns, Randy Jackson-Cubs, Alex Konikowski-Giants, Windy McCall-Giants, Bobo Newsome-A's, Jim Pendelton-Braves, Bob Porterfield-Red Sox, Frank Shellenback-Giants, Hank Schenz-Giants.
