The immortal “Babe” Ruth made an art out of hitting baseballs. Fittingly the “Babe” has been immortalized in art with this limited edition sculpture. Created by renowned artist Peter Rubino, this plaster cast artwork is finished with a bronze patina and displays amazingly life-like detail. Minor surface wear is present in the form of small paint chips scattered about the hat and on the tip of the nose. These small spots affect only the paint surface and without gouging into the piece and could easily be remedied through simple touch-up restoration.
This 1989 bust edition measures approximately 12” tall above the base to the cap peak by 7” wide across the baseball neck portion by 8” deep from the cap brim to the back, on a 9x8x2 base. It is LE numbered “211/5000” and etched-signed “Rudolf-Rubino Creations ©1989” along with the artist Rubino’s signature and “Curtis Publishing” on the back. Showing exacting facial details Ruth’s head emerges from a baseball at the neck and a facsimile “Babe Ruth” signature appears on the ball at the five o’clock position. The laminated base is affixed with a “Babe Ruth” engraved plate, completing the design of this gallery quality piece.
