1952 AL MVP Bobby Shantz brings the heat with this game-used Kansas City Athletics jersey. The rare 1955 Rawlings button-down size 38 features light wear and is decorated on the front with a red-on-blue twill "Athletics" in the same fashion as "52" appears on reverse. The left tail has the "Hall of Fame" flannel tag, underneath which Shantz has signed ("7"); the inside left tail has a flag tag reading "SET 1 1955". Blue piping lines the sleeves and the collar and a vintage "A's elephant" logo is on the left sleeve. A small patch that was once in the collar has since been removed and the reverse has a small amount of leaching from the dyed felt onto the shirt. The original number on this uniform was #21, but #52 now appears as the jersey was repurposed for minor league use soon thereafter. Auction LOA for signature and LOA from Phil Wood for game use which reads (in part): "After 40 years of collecting vintage major league flannel uniforms, I can report that, while 1955-60 Athletics home jerseys are easy to find, the road version of this style is extremely rare". A key addition to any baseball game-used jersey collection.
