“Mr. November” is just one among the many titles bestowed upon Derek Jeter, who has also been called “Yankee Captain,” “Rookie of the Year” and “World Series MVP.” Already in Monument Park and Cooperstown, the Bronx legend wielded this rookie-era weapon at the very beginning of his career. The black ash 33.5"/32.5 oz Louisville Slugger P72 has been graded GU 9.5 by PSA/DNA and features heavy wear with a crack and a heavy coat of pine tar on the handle. Other forms of wear include a donut impression, multiple ball and ball stitch impressions, scuffs and ball ink transfers as well as cleat and bat rack marks. Jeter signed the professional model bat just to the left of his block style name on the barrel in silver metallic paint pen ("8-9"). Of note is the fact that his signature shows different characteristics than later pennings in that the "e's" in his first and last names are more visible and the loop of the "J" in "Jeter" is less defined, making it resemble an additional "D" (all characteristics of a Jeter rookie year signature). Jeter's game used bat measures 33.5" meaning that it was ordered either in late 1995, 1996 or very early 1997, when the Yankee shortstop switched to a 34" stick.
